The
Foundation for Christian Studies (FCS) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to the study, teaching, and practice of
Christianity in a way that inspires all people, regardless of
theological differences, to come together in support of
essential Christian values and compassionate service to God’s
children across the globe. The FCS accomplishes this by
providing rich scriptural course study and spiritual
commentary, interactive web forums for thoughtful discussion,
an online store offering inspirational Christian media, and a
charitable giving program that emphasizes individual and
community self-reliance.
While Eric Shuster, the founder of FCS, and his advisors on
the FCS board are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, this web site is specifically designed for
people interested in learning more about all faiths and
Christianity in general. Through earnest study towards the
understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ we can grow in our
desire to love and serve the Savior—leading to an increase of
spiritual peace and freedom in our lives and a commitment to
reach out to those who are less fortunate.

The tragedy in Haiti has triggered an outpouring of love and
support. I have also seen some criticism of the efforts by
Haitian locals who feel the support is coming with a forced
Christian message – meaning there is preaching going on while
food, water, and bibles are being handed out. As a Christian I
love witnessing to others and sharing of my faith, but there
is a time and a place for evangelism. I strongly believe in
the power of example as being the greatest method of
witnessing of Jesus Christ one can provide. I am reminded of
the many acts of service by Christians in all parts of the
world without mentioning anything about Christianity or trying
to hand out scriptures. What happens later is that those very
people who were served, once their life is through the crisis,
seek out the churches and organizations who rendered that
selfless service to them because they remember the example of
love and kindness they showed. Witnessing of Jesus Christ can
be the simple example we demonstrate without a word spoken.

Catholic Roots, Mormon Harvest is the captivating
story of the conversion of FCS Director Eric Shuster and
his wife Marilyn from Catholicism to Mormonism with
comparisons of 40 key doctrines between both religions
that drove their life-changing decision. The book delivers
a unique journey of how they were able to retain the
spiritual roots from their Catholic upbringing, while
enriching their lives with a harvest of peace and joy that
comes from membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. A key part of Eric and Marilyn’s
journey of conversion was the serious study of doctrines
and practices between the Catholic Church and the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints using the
comprehensive Catechism of the Catholic Church and various
official LDS doctrinal materials to ensure sound and
objective analysis and understanding. Catholic Roots,
Mormon Harvest is now available in the
FCS Book Store,
Amazon, and other retailers. For more information

GOD
OUR FATHER: God is the central figure in the spiritual
lives of all humans who believe there is a God. God is
referred to by many different names across a variety of
religious sects, but among Christians he is most often
referred to as “God the Father.” For many, God is an
incomprehensible being without form or substance, immaterial—a
pure spiritual essence that created heaven and earth and all
that are in it. For others, God is a more personal and
approachable being—though he is still all-powerful. This being
gave us life, allowed us to enter this mortal realm, and will
welcome us home to his heavenly realm when our mortal
existence reaches its inevitable end.

The
Apostle Paul urged the Ephesians to put on the “whole armour
of God,” (Eph. 6:13) to guard against principalities and the
rulers of darkness in our world. Paul highlighted the “sword
of the spirit” as part of that armor, using it as a metaphor
for the “word of God” (Eph. 6:17). This admonition from God to
prepare ourselves spiritually with the word of God is carried
out by The Foundation for Christian Studies (FCS) through a
collection of theological essays titled the Sword Series™. The
objective of this trademarked and copyrighted collection is to
deliver the doctrines of Christianity found on the FCS website
in an easy to manage format for personal study, church
sermons, family discussions, Sunday school lessons and other
gospel centered purposes. Each paper in the collection has
been formatted in PDF to help the FCS maintain its copyrights,
while allowing free and easy download and distribution of each
essay. Find out more about the Sword Series™ by
