The
Foundation for Christian Studies (FCS) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to the study, teaching, and practice of
Christianity in a way that inspires all people, regardless of
theological differences, to come together in support of
essential Christian values and compassionate service to God’s
children across the globe. The FCS accomplishes this by
providing rich scriptural course study and spiritual
commentary, interactive web forums for thoughtful discussion,
an online store offering inspirational Christian media, and a
charitable giving program that emphasizes individual and
community self-reliance.
While Eric Shuster, the founder of FCS, and his advisors on
the FCS board are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, this web site is specifically designed for
people interested in learning more about all faiths and
Christianity in general. Through earnest study towards the
understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ we can grow in our
desire to love and serve the Savior—leading to an increase of
spiritual peace and freedom in our lives and a commitment to
reach out to those who are less fortunate.

Does
Mormonism have any biblical foundations? Can Mormonism
stand upright on the platform of the Bible alone, or would
it fracture and topple over if not propped up with modern
scripture, such as The Book of Mormon, and the revelations
of modern prophets, such as Joseph Smith and Brigham
Young? The Biblical Roots of Mormonism is the
result of an effort to discover Mormonism—root and
branch—as it is revealed in the Bible. Latter-day Saints
want to know the biblical ground they stand on. Others
want to know what Mormons believe and how those beliefs
are biblically justified. Biblical Roots will show
how the Bible, standing alone, sustains Mormon theology
and practice. Each chapter provides detailed commentary on
specific doctrines and gives comprehensive support using
hundreds of biblical passages revealing fresh insights
about the Bible and how to learn and teach from it. The
Biblical Roots of Mormonism is now available in the FCS Book Store,
Amazon, and other retailers.
New life
coming into the world will always be a miracle. My son Jason
and his wife were blessed with their first child on Saturday,
August 14th – Austyn Morgan Shuster. This is our second
grandchild and there is no way I could ever get tired of this
miracle happening in our family. A husband and wife come
together in love to share their love for one another, thus
procreating with God who provides the eternal spirit of the
new life according to His master plan for humanity. In every
new life there is so much hope, so much potential, and so much
joy that comes to so many in the family. This is the way it
should be, and the way God meant it to happen. However, all
too often this is not what actually transpires. Unmarried
people come together to achieve physical pleasure and end up
with an unwanted child. The child is born into a family
already broken with so much less than he or she deserves. At
least with adoption this unfortunate situation can be partly
remedied. Intimacy is serious business and should only be used
within the bounds of marriage, where commitments are made for
all eternity and children can be assured a complete family
with a loving mother and father. This is the ideal and what
God wants for all of his children. It is worth shooting for.
Anything less is simply that… less. Don’t settle for less.
MARY
THE MOTHER OF CHRIST: As Christians we all grow up hearing
the story of the Nativity at Christmas time and the role of
Mary in the birth of Jesus. Although the stories of Mary’s
trials and joys are simple, much doctrine has been generated
about her.

The
Apostle Paul urged the Ephesians to put on the “whole armour
of God,” (Eph. 6:13) to guard against principalities and the
rulers of darkness in our world. Paul highlighted the “sword
of the spirit” as part of that armor, using it as a metaphor
for the “word of God” (Eph. 6:17). This admonition from God to
prepare ourselves spiritually with the word of God is carried
out by The Foundation for Christian Studies (FCS) through a
collection of theological essays titled the Sword Series™. The
objective of this trademarked and copyrighted collection is to
deliver the doctrines of Christianity found on the FCS website
in an easy to manage format for personal study, church
sermons, family discussions, Sunday school lessons and other
gospel centered purposes. Each paper in the collection has
been formatted in PDF to help the FCS maintain its copyrights,
while allowing free and easy download and distribution of each
essay. Find out more about the Sword Series™ by clicking here.
