The Foundation for Christian Studies (FCS) is committed to exemplifying the love of Jesus Christ by serving others as he did during his public ministry. Christ called for his true disciples to feed the hungry, take in the stranger, clothe the naked, and visit the incarcerated (Matt. 25: 35-36).

The FCS will heed the counsel of the Savior by promoting and supporting charities who have demonstrated excellence in managing their operations towards helping those in need. The FCS places a particular emphasis on charities which help those who are striving for self-sufficiency. The three charities selected by the FCS are shown below—which you can support through purchases of merchandise from the FCS store, or by clicking on the charities below and contributing directly on their website. The FCS does not accept donations directly for any purpose at this time.

CHOICE HUMANITARIAN

CHOICE Humanitarian is ending poverty by focusing on sustainable village development. CHOICE, which stands for Center for Humanitarian Outreach and Inter-Cultural Exchange, has the goal of connecting motivated villages to resources and tools to change their lives. By building skills, capacities and leadership of the villagers – the entire community brings itself out of the cycle of poverty. By working with hard working villagers to connect them to resources, skills and opportunities they are changing their lives and pulling their communities out of poverty. NURSE FAMILY PARTNERSHIP

Nurse-Family Partnership® is an evidence-based, nurse home visiting program that improves the health, well-being and self-sufficiency of low-income, first-time parents and their children across the United States. The Nurse-Family Partnership National Service Office is a nonprofit organization that provides service to communities in implementing and sustaining this program. Nurse-Family Partnership Implementing Agencies are supported by a team of public health policy and administration, nursing, education and program evaluation professionals at the National Service Office who collaborate with Public/Private Ventures, based in Philadelphia, Invest in Kids, based in Denver, and other partners in the states where Nurse-Family Partnership is currently established. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER PROGRAM (KIPP)

KIPP Academies are a growing network of schools that are transforming the lives of students in under-resourced communities, and redefining the notion of what is possible in public education. Since their founding, the two original KIPP Academies have sustained track records of high student achievement. While fewer than one in five low-income students attend college nationally, KIPP’s college matriculation rate stands at more than 80 percent for students who complete the eighth grade at KIPP. In 2007, nearly 95 percent of KIPP alumni went on to college-preparatory high schools; collectively, they have earned millions of dollars in scholarships and financial aid since 2000. Learn more about KIPP by visiting their website at www.kipp.org, or you can donate directly by clicking here.

The Operations of the FCS
The FCS maintains an all volunteer ministry, therefore its Board of Advisors, associates, and contributors are not paid any form of compensation for their time in service. The primary expenses incurred by the FCS are for as needed administrative and operational purposes including: website maintenance, server hosting, accounting services, legal counsel, copy editing, printing, postage, and office supplies. In many cases the FCS is able to receive donated services, while using outsourced professional organizations as appropriate in order to reduce reoccurring labor costs. Funding for the start-up and on-going operations of the FCS comes through private donations and sales of Christian media from the FCS online stores. Where there is an surplus of funds available, the FCS considers how best to use those surplus fund in support of its sponsored charities—thus maintaining a non-profit orientation.
